Texas Instruments cares about
your health and the health of your family. It is important
to understand what you can do to prevent disease. The key is
a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes:
- Smoking cessation
- Maintaining ideal body
weight
- A diet low in saturated
fats and high in natural sources of vitamins, minerals
and fiber
- Limiting your alcohol
intake
- Regular exercise
These combined behaviors
will help to lower your risk of developing cancer, high
blood pressure and other diseases.
Cancer-related diseases are
increasing at an alarming rate and even though you cannot
prevent all cases of cancer, effective early detection
strategies exist for many of the common types of cancer. The
goal is to detect cases while in an early (or even
pre-cancerous) stage when treatment can result in a
long-term cure.
Blue Cross Blue
Shield PPO coverage
The Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO provides extensive coverage
to help participants detect problems early and take an
active role in maintaining good health. Early detection
examinations and tests can help save lives and reduce
suffering from cancers of the breast, colon, rectum, cervix,
prostate, testes (testicles), oral cavity (mouth) and skin.
The Preventive Services
Covered table below can help you determine recommended
screening tests and exams covered by the Blue Cross Blue
Shield PPO. The periodic preventive health office visit and
screening tests recommended for your age and gender are
covered at 100 percent. No copay, coinsurance or deductibles
apply. Coverage is limited to one preventive health
office visit per year. Services by non-network providers
are covered at 100 percent of reasonable and customary fees.
The screening exams and tests included in the preventive
health office visit are specified in the following chart.
Many HMOs offer
preventive health coverage. Contact your HMO regarding
preventive health exams and screening tests covered by your
plan.
