Edge of Life Issues - Let Your Wishes Be Known

Lee Hancock, a staff writer for the Dallas Morning News, spoke on palliative care at the TI Alumni Edge of Life Seminar on February 25, 2009.

Lee, who has been a reporter for 20 years, wrote the five-part Edge of Life series of articles on palliative care and other end-of-life issues. Lee spent a year interviewing terminal patients and their family members in preparing the articles.

The Dallas Morning News website provides tools that can help you plan and document your end-of-life wishes and desires. The website offers living will forms and other Internet resources.

  • Go to http://www.dallasnews.com/edgeoflife

  • In at the edge of life menu, in the upper right portion of the screen, click "Questionaire" to bring the topic 11 questions to help plan your medical wishes to the top of the screen.

  • Click "Find out how making decisions now will help later" to complete an interactive questionnaire.

  • Advanced care planning resources, including advanced directive forms for your state, are available from the Caring Connections website.
